Welcome

Rocklin Elementary VAPA

VAPA, or Visual and Performing Arts, is a time when 1st through 6th grade students are instructed in the Visual Arts: ie. drawing, painting, ceramics, printmaking; and the Performing Arts; Music, Dance, and Theater by a credentialed specialist. The program is scheduled for a half day about once every three weeks, for a total of 12 times a year.
As an educator and a working artist I believe Arts education is vital to all children. The Arts are strongly supported by the new Common Core State Standards and with your support this program which has been in RUSD for over 25 years will continue.
Some supplies always run short: glue sticks, sharpies, and pink pearl erasers are especially needed. Other things are greatly appreciated:old musical instruments (broken is ok) and old tennis balls.

If you have any questions drop by room 14 or email bchestnutt@rocklin.k12.ca.us

Grading and Discipline policies

GRADING POLICY
Formal and informal assessments are made by both by the students and myself.
For Visual Art projects assessments are generally based on following directions, craftsmanship, cooperation, and completion of assignments. All students who need extra time to complete their work can do so during recesses on VAPA days throughout the year.
All Performing Arts lessons are assessed by me for appropriate participation, cooperation, effort, and audience skills.  No homework will be given.
Please email me if you have any questions.
